I’ve read this article posted at KBS World headlined ‘Japan Provides Patrol Ships to the Philippines against China’ it’s posted on this url http://world.kbs.co.kr/english/news/news_In_detail.htm?No=89090, it says that a paper named ‘Nihon Keizai Shimbun’ in Japan has reported that Japan decided to provide the Philippines with patrol ships to obviously help the Philippines patrol her territory against against China….. I actually have this mixed reaction after reading the article, I don’t know if I’ll feel happy because finally one neighbor has blatantly showed it’s support to the Philippines as it’s obviously can’t provide all these ships for herself, I won’t use any analogy on this one because it’s like thumping my heart with a shoe full of cleats, or would I feel poignant or rather sad, … OK, fine, I’ll drop the word – self-pity, as it’s not quiet an appropriate word to employ given the magnitude of this geo-political issue that’s involve in here.
I only have few cases in point;
Number 1: They say it’s not culturally apt to refuse someone offering a help, given the reality that Phils. is into right now, the best option is to take it .. and then what? I’d say can we just forget about other nasty political things and think of who is flying beneath our wings right now? You can agree or disagree, this is a free country.
Number 2. I think it’s not the right time to entertain thoughts about us being ‘kawawa’, fact is, we’ve been so ever since a lot of our politicians learned to think only of themselves and not the so-called ‘kapakanan ng bayan’.
Number 3. Ang Pilipinas kung sa beauty pageant pa may special award na – Miss Congeniality. As to how many countries would agree? I guess we’ve been amiable enough to have them on our side, however big the missiles would be that’ll come splashing the ‘karburo’ shoal I hope not anytime soon.
